Surrender I always love having those songs where people get lost I love to make music that really matters to people And one of the things that I find when I go out on the road Is it's really important on the one hand to never take myself that seriously No, consider myself as just another speck of dustBut on the other hand, when I go out, and I tour and I meet people They come up and physically tell me, cost me As to what the records have meant to them and how much they've gotten through things Apparently I'm a real good antidote to if things are bad in your life You just put on one of my records and it really helpsSo to make music that matters to people and then make a song like Surrender Where you just love that thing where music You get so lost in music, and you just lose yourself in it So that's a real, you shut your eyes, you know It's just that thing where someone does want to give themselves to you But you're just trying to do your best version of just trying to entice them into your life more And that song does thatAnd it's a real kind of eyes shut, you know, just let music wash over you I can't wait to play that on a warm night on a big shed somewhere When it's just all beautiful and the stars are aligned And people are going to get to hear that song And it should be quite moving
