Biografía de Green Day
Green Day es una banda de rock alternativo y punk pop formada en Berkeley, California, en 1987. La agrupación surgió de la amistad entre Billie Joe Armstrong y Mike Dirnt, quienes compartían su pasión por la música punk desde la adolescencia. Inicialmente, la banda se llamó Sweet Children, pero adoptó el nombre Green Day en 1989, inspirándose en su afición por el consumo de marihuana. Tré Cool se unió como baterista permanente en 1990, completando la formación clásica del trío que los llevaría al éxito mundial.
Musicalmente, Green Day evolucionó desde sus raíces punk rock underground hacia un sonido más accesible de pop punk que revolucionó el género. Sus primeros álbumes independientes mostraban una propuesta más cruda y rápida, pero con "Dookie" lograron perfeccionar una fórmula que combinaba melodías pegadizas con actitud rebelde. Este álbum los catapultó al mainstream y definió su estilo característico. Posteriormente, exploraron conceptos más ambiciosos con trabajos como "American Idiot", una ópera rock que abordaba temas políticos y sociales de manera directa. Su capacidad para reinventarse quedó demostrada con álbumes posteriores que experimentaron con diferentes sonoridades sin perder su esencia punk.
La influencia de Green Day en la música popular es innegable, habiendo vendido millones de discos en todo el mundo y siendo considerados pioneros en llevar el punk al público masivo.
